Irish group Kíla are world renowned Irish music composers and performers, all eight members are multi instrumentalists with the bedrock of their sound in traditional Irish instrumentation; uilleann pipes, flute, bodhrán, fiddle, mandolin. They are known for their original compositions which bring a contemporary take on traditional themes and their ability to infuse a global mix of African, Eastern, European and rock influences. As music for screen composers they work as a collective bringing different members in depending on the project’s needs. They have many years of experience crafting original soundtracks recorded on live instruments, most notable is their ongoing creative collaboration with French composer Bruno Coulais on the Oscar nominated feature animations 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Song of the Sea' both from Cartoon Salon and the Netflix original 'White Fang' (Croc Blanc).
Kíla have recently completed the score for the Screen Ireland, Cine4 Irish language feature 'Arracht' which will be premiered at the Black Nights, Tallinn Film Festival in the Grand Prix competition November 2019.
They are also preparing to return to work with Bruno Coulais on the forthcoming Cartoon Saloon/Apple TV produced 'Wolf Walker' due for release 2020.
Kíla have composed, produced and provided music for countless Irish TV series, documentaries and children's productions. They provided music for the Emmy nominated Crossing the Line productions broadcast on RTÉ, BBC, PBS and worldwide; 'Irelands Wild River' and 'Irelands Wild Coast'. In 2018 they produced and arranged music for 'Cúl an Tí' from TG4, a series of children’s animated films set to Irish language songs.
