Composer Mark Daniel Kerry has built an impressive portfolio of work, which was streamed by an audience of well over 1,000,000 in 2018 alone. His craft was further developed upon completion of a Diploma in Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music and an MA in musical composition from University College Cork.
Mark’s work covers a broad range of genres and styles and is regularly broadcast by Raidió Teilifís Éireann, the Republic of Ireland’s premiere broadcaster. As a composer, Mark aims not only to produce high quality music for moving images but also to regularly release standalone music. Mark was born in Ireland and is currently based in Co. Galway, Ireland. He has been writing music since the age of 8 and considers many of the following artists among his influences; David Bowie, Claude Debussy, Depeche Mode, Satie, Hans Zimmer, Nine Inch nails, College, Clint Mansell, Kavinsky, U2 and Cliff Martinez. His compositional style is strongly based on powerful and memorable melodies. Perhaps Mark's favourite instruments/ensembles to compose for are piano and string quartet, although he is quite capable of composing for a very wide variety of instruments. He also produces electronic music under a different alias.
Outside of commercial works (which have varied in style from orchestral to folk music), Mark writes both contemporary classical and electronic music. Though the genres share very little similarities, Mark is one of very few composers to be adept at composing in such distinctly different genres. In 2018 Mark wrote his first score for theatre and already has two more theatrical projects lined up for 2019 and an electronic EP to be released in the summer. Quarterly contemporary classical releases are also on the roadmap for 2019, Mark began the year with the release of a new solo piano piece entitled ""If Only"", and another of his piano pieces ""At a Glance | Air"" was used to underscore one of RTE's latest promotional campaigns.
