John Gerard Walsh is an award winning Irish Composer and Songwriter having won eight Kinsale Shark Awards and four ICAD bells to date for original music. In addition, he recently received a ‘Best Original Score’ nomination from the Irish Film and Television Academy for his work on the feature film ‘The Drummer and the Keeper’ starring Dermot Murphy (Bohemian Rhapsody). Other drama scores have included the horror feature ‘Cherry Tree’ starring Naomi Battick (Jamestown), music contributions to the Discovery Channel drama series 'Harley and the Davidsons' starring Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones) and most recently, he produced a song for the soundtrack of BAFTA winning director Neasa Hardiman's debut feature film 'Sea Fever'. 

His versatility and unique sense for story telling has resulted in his music being heard far and wide across the globe, including being featured in some of the largest advertising campaigns ever produced, for clients such as Guinness, Heineken, Tourism Ireland, The Olympic Games, Expo 2020 Dubai and currently in Jameson Irish Whiskey’s global media roll out. 

Additional television credits include the programme opening themes for Prime Time (RTE) and The Six Nations Championship (Virgin Media Television). 

In his formative days, John studied classical guitar and music theory at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity College London in between touring with rock bands and scoring projects for up and coming film directors. 

As well as composing for the screen, John has written and produced songs for his band The Carnival Brothers.
