Kormac

Working from his studio in the heart of Dublin, Kormac and his team compose, orchestrate, record, produce and deliver at pace.

He has recently completed the scores for two 10-episode series for Mopar/A&E Films; Professionals (starting Brendan Fraiser and Tom Welling) and Red Election, a political thriller starring Stephen Dillane (Game Of Thrones), Lydia Leonard (Gentleman Jack), and James D’Arcy (Homeland.)

While composing for Red Election he worked closely with acclaimed directors Jill Robbertson (Dagleish, Harlots, Impulse, The Feed, Law & Order,) Paul Murphy  (Death in Paradise, American Housewife, Doctor Who) and Declan Recks (Pure Mule, The Flag, The Truth Commissioner, Counsel)

The score is centred around the main theme, a haunting piano melody set against grainy electronic percussion, delicate vocals and electro-acoustic textures.

The sonic palette for this series was created by twisting and morphing a series of acoustic recordings into something entirely unique to give the show a tone and atmosphere all of its own.

Kormac started out as a hip-hop scratch DJ and MPC beat-maker. He has matured into an artist who brings a totally unique approach to his art, twisting meticulous recordings of acoustic instruments into something entirely unique.

His latest project, Equivalent Exchange, saw him write a full suite of material for an orchestra and a host of collaborators including Loah, Eimear Noone, Jack O’ Rourke, MayKay, Jafaris and Stephen James Smith while working with acclaimed artist, Maser, on artwork and show visuals. The show sold out Vicar Street, the Guinness Storehouse and played several key festivals including Electric Picnic. An album of this music will be released during Autumn 2022.

While making his previous album, Doortspes, he literally showed up at the doors of legendary author, Irvine Welsh, Mercury Music Prize Winner, Speech Debelle, Texan legend, Micah P. Hinson and a host of others to collaborate and produce a record that sounds like nothing else.

He’s played festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, Electric Picnic, Sonar and toured the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, Australia and Canada alongside luminaries Portishead, Nas, Flaming Lips, Sonic Youth, Snarky Puppy and a host of others. Current streaming figures are in excess of 40 million.

Kormac is currently scoring a feature film due for release towards the end of 2022
