Michael Keeney

Michael Keeney is a composer/arranger/producer and engineer based in Northern Ireland who has been working internationally for recording artists and film for over 25 years.

Selected credits include Van Morrison, INXS, SOAK, Lisa Hannigan, Hannah Peel, Foy Vance, Villagers, Pillow Queen’s, Luke Sital-Singh, And So I Watch You From Afar, Altan, Beoga, The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, The Ulster Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and many more.

He is the recipient of the Huddersfield Composers Award, a Hotpress Award, an Irish Meteor Award Nomination, a Royal Television Society Award Nomination, a British Animation Awards nominee (score of the year 2021), a BBC Radio 3 Jazz Award and 4 x Northern Ireland Music Prize Nominations as producer (1 win) for album of the year, and was nominated as artist for album of the year in 2020 (The Darkling Air). He is 2 x winner of the UKMPG “Score Recording of The Year” Award in 2021 and again in 2023.

In 2013 he co-founded with Kris Stronge a television music & audio company (Keeney & Stronge Ltd) who’s clients include Disney, HBO, BBC, Netflix, ITV & RTÉ. He has created soundtracks for numerous animated series, short film, commercials and documentaries.
