SCGI LA Composer Mission
Screen Composers Guild of Ireland led the first Irish Composer Mission to LA in March 2023. A delegation of ten Irish based composers who create original music for Film, TV, Animation and Video games travelled to the heart of the international screen industry to represent Ireland as a destination for music department. The four day trip saw the delegation participate in a professional development day provided the delegates with insights into working in LA. This was followed by two days of studio visits meeting music teams from Disney, Netflix and Amazon allowing the composers to introduce their work and we presented the value of bringing music department to Ireland including tax incentive, high quality performing ensembles as well as strong composer talent.
The delegation also met with music professionals, Irish and international composers based in LA and music rights and representative organisations. The mission closed with a Trasna Reception in the residence of the Irish Consul General to Los Angeles. The reception was attended by music industry professionals and provided a wonderful networking opportunity for the composer delegates.
