Brian Crosby is an Irish composer, producer and multi instrumentalist working primarily in music for film and TV. He has worked on several international feature films, TV series, documentaries and commercials. Brian has also scored several national and international TV commercials for a wide range of brands including Google, Dodge, Samsung, Under Armour and Toyota. Brian’s music career started at the age of 16 when he and Damien Rice started playing music together in school. This led on to them forming the band Juniper and then later Bell X1, with whom Brian recorded four records and toured the world extensively between 1996 and 2008.

In 2006, Brian devised, curated and produced The Cake Sale, a band featuring an eclectic collective of musicians and writers to raise funds for the charity Oxfam. The record was released in Europe and USA to huge critical acclaim and received further recognition when the song ‘Some Surprise’ was featured in the ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy.

In 2008, Brian parted company with Bell X1 to pursue a career as a film composer and moved to Berlin where he converted an old factory in Kreuzberg to a studio complex which would become home to the heart of the Berlin film music scene. It was here that he collaborated with fellow studio residents Jóhann Jóhannsson, Dustin O’Halloran, Hildur Guõnadóttir and Rutger Hoedemaekers on numerous Film and TV scores.

In 2015, Brian collaborated with French pianist Fabien Leseure and together wrote a body of work to be performed by two pianos. In 2016, along with other leading names in Irish contemporary music, Brian was a central collaborator on Starboard Home, a project which culminated with two live shows at the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the release of a critically acclaimed album.

In 2017 Brian moved back to Ireland with his family and set up a studio on the south east coast of the country where he continues to write music for Film and TV as well as his own solo work. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin, and is Chair of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland as well as being a director of the Irish Music Rights Organisation.
