Gemma Doherty
Gemma is a composer, harpist and singer from Derry City. Her solo work combines contemporary with experimental Irish folk/traditional, centering around the harp with electronics and effects. Recent screen work includes additional composition on “Kneecap” (starring Michael Fassbender, Sundance Audience Award winner ’24), “Ogham” and “Fadó Fadó” (shorts, Galway Film Fleadh ’24) an original score for Charlie Chaplin’s “The Kid” (Sound! Film Festival) and “Camera Tripod Bicycle” (RTÉ doc). As one half of electronic-folk duo Saint Sister, she has toured worldwide and released two critically acclaimed albums - receiving Best Album in N.I. Music Prize and nominations for Album of the Year in Choice Music Prize and RTÉ Folk Awards. She performed with Bono on his 23-date “Stories of Surrender” tour, and has worked with artists such as Lisa Hannigan, SOAK, Crash Ensemble, Villagers, Denise Chaila, Rachael Lavelle and more.
