Please note: This opportunity is only open to composers who have not previously been lead composer on a TV Drama Series or feature film in line with the qualifying criteria for SCGI bursary award.

Placement Details:

  • 4-6 week averaging 20-30hours per week

  • Start day TBC (predicted range mid Aug-mid September)

  • Location: Online working to CET (Central European Time Zone) – Remote working.

  • Associated production: Hiring composer is scoring a 6 x 1hour TV Drama series.

Gear Requirements:

  • Mac User preferably OSX 10.13 or higher. Ideally 32 Gb RAM or more.

  • Pro Tools user, preferably PT 2018

  • Native Instruments Komplete 12 or 13 and Omnisphere are the two most important pieces of software on this job. Having them and knowing your way around the instruments in Komplete (especially Kontkat) is a big bonus. Any Spitfire Audio or Symphobia software also a plus.

  • Access to good broadband.

Skills Requirements:

  • Proficient use of Pro Tools preferably PT 2018 or higher.

  • Moderate level of Associated Software (listed above)

  • Moderate level of Arranging and Mixing skills

  • Proficient knowledge of Synths/Soft synths a big plus

  • Moderate level of arranging for strings a plus

Range of possible tasks Required:

Possibilities range from adapting already-created sessions/templates/themes from previous scenes and sequences to new scenes taking account of discussed in/out points, timings, hitting marks, dynamics etc. Similarly, taking a theme and building an appropriate arrangement around it to suit a particular scene. Cleaning up sessions, finessing midi files and building a mix for presentation to director/producers. Creating a master session with final stereo mixes and outputting for final delivery to sound mix. This may include bouncing/printing any stems that might be requested by director/producers/sound mixers. Help in preparation of cue sheets for producers/publishers/IMRO/PRS. Possibly preparing notation (score/dots) for a small ensemble from MIDI files.

Training will be provided for specific tasks and on hiring composer work flow/set up.
