Composer Assistant Job Placement Opportunity 6

Please note: This opportunity is only open to composers who have not previously been the lead composer on an episodic children’s animation series in line with the qualifying criteria for SCGI bursary award. Only open to composers residing in Ireland and Northern Ireland. SCGI Bursary award of €1000 will be available to successful applicant.

Placement Details

Start Date – Early March 2024

6 weeks averaging aprox 15 hours per week (including training and shadowing hours)

Location – Remote work, based in Ireland

Associated Production – Composer is delivering original score to a pre-school animation series.

Gear Requirements:

• Cubase

• Access to good broadband.

• Kontakt and Spitfire libraries useful, any libraries candidate does not have will be supplied.

Skills Requirements:

• Minimum two year’s experience on Cubase.

• Knowledge of working with Kontakt and Spitfire libraries

• Knowledge of working on multiple (30-40) channels in creating cues, working with midi samples and instruments, music editing and creating midi mock ups

Typical tasks will include:

Taking thematic cue sketches and mocking them up to suit the production sound of the show using sample libraries such as Kontakt and Spitfire on the DAW Cubase.

Taking cues and cutting them to different lengths, in a way which makes musical sense, to allow the series editor to temp them into animatics (early versions of animation) to create mockups and temp versions of scores

Placement will include initial training to support task needs and some shadowing hours.
