Reuben Harvey
Reuben Harvey is a film and commercial composer from Laois, currently living in Dublin.
After being trained classically at Kilkenny College by David Milne (Guinness Choir Director 1991 - 2022) and Ian Sexton Ph.D, Reuben studied television and digital film at BCFE and then went onto study Film and Television Production at The National Film School at IADT, graduating in 2023 as a director.
Reubens’ most recent works include the Galway Film Festivals TG4 best short documentary winner, “We Beg to Differ” (2024) among two other projects screening at the fleadh in 2024.
His music has featured in films competing internationally in festivals such as The Royal Television Society Awards (2022, 2024), The Emerging Directors Awards (2024), Kinsale Sharks (2024), EnergaCameraImage, Poland (2023) Cork international Film Festival (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) Dublin International Film Festival (2021), Aesthetica film festival (2022), Bolton Film Festival (2022) Fastnet Film Festival (2021) & Belfast film festival (2022)
While heavily influenced by classical and baroque composers such as Purcell, Bach and Vivaldi, Reuben combines classical writing techniques with a modern ambient synth sound influenced by Brian Eno, Nils Frahm and Floating Points creating unique and exciting narrative, documentary and commercial music.
