Rod Morris
Multi-instrumentalist composer and sound designer Rod Morris works predominantly from his Galway based studio and has been creating music and sound to picture since 2008. In addition to music and sound, Rod also provides client friendly audio post services providing surround mixes for TV, Cinema as well as fully spacial mixes for VR & 360 video.
Rod has created music, jingles and sound design for commercial brands & channels such as, HBO, Disney, TG4, RTE, IDA, TV3, Setanta, Avanmore, Electric Ireland, Eir, Jacobs, Heineken, Guinness, Digicel & many more.
His first feature soundtrack was composed for Directer Maurice Sweeney’s IFTA winning “Man On a Mission” documentary in 2010 was followed by scoring a string of promos for HBO including cult TV shows such as Game Of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire & Band of Brothers. Since then Rod has scored numerous documentaries & short films for the likes of National Geographic, TG4, Setanta Sports & RTE as well as a host of independent film makers.
Most recently Rod scored the soundtrack to director Marcus Robinson’s Bafta winning “An Engineer Imagines” which is currently showing in theatres nationwide.
Rod grew up with music in his ear, picking up the piano naturally from age 3, and drums from age 10. He progressed both studies with the College of Music Dublin and the late great John Wadham respectively, eventually getting his hands on his first love, synthesizers. After years of playing in bands and producing his own electronic music for labels such as Neo Ouija (UK), Front End Synthetics & Underscan (DE), Rod’s love of audio tech evolved into sound design for picture for which he has worked on numerous features, promos and idents providing bespoke, creative audio.
Rod invites all interested parties to join him at his private seaside studio in Co.Galway where he provides food & board.
