Composer Assistant Job Placement Opportunity 7 - In studio

Please note: This opportunity is only open to composers who have not previously been the lead composer on a medium - large budget feature film in line with the qualifying criteria for SCGI bursary award. This opportunity is only open to composers residing in Ireland and Northern Ireland. SCGI Bursary award of €1500 will be available to successful applicant.

This is an In Person placement in rural East Co. Wicklow.

Placement Details

Start Date – Late August 2025

6 weeks averaging 15 hours per week (including training and shadowing hours). Likely times will be 4-6pm, 5 days a week to start. Opportunity for placement to extend beyound this time frame.

Location – Donard, Co. Wicklow in hiring composer’s studio. This location is just over an hour south of Dublin by car and is accessible by public transport but with very limited frequency. Due to the nature of the job remote work is not possible.

Associated Production – Composer is delivering original score to a large budget feature horror.

Gear Requirements:

All work with be on location in composers studio.

Skills Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in pro tools

  • Very good methodical organisational skills

  • Experience with mics and recording single live instruments preferred

  • Good communication and active listening skills.

  • Adaptable and willing to learn new tasks

Typical tasks will include:

  • Tidying up the daily session by labeling, deleting and organising tracks.

  • Doing bounce outs where music, picture and dialog are mixed to enable the director to hear the score developing.

  • Providing general composer support across a large project with some live recording in studio.

  • Placement will include initial training to support task needs and some shadowing hours.
