Composer Assistant Job Placement Opportunity 8 - Remote and In studio

Please note: This opportunity is only open to composers who have not previously been the lead composer on a mid budget feature film in line with the qualifying criteria for SCGI bursary award. Only open to composers residing in Ireland and Northern Ireland. SCGI Bursary award of €1500 will be available to successful applicant.

Placement Details

Start date: 1st September 2025

2 weeks part-time remote followed by in studio full time for recording session on 15th, 16th, 17th September.

Location – Remote (assistant working in their own studio) and on location for recording in Studio Cuan, Spiddal Connemara. Composer will seek to accommodate assistant for duration if not based near by.

Associated Production – Composer is delivering original score to a feature film.

Gear Requirements:

• Pro tools and Logic (recent versions)

• Excellent Wifi

Skills Requirements:

•           Strong proficiency in logic and pro tools

•           Very good methodical organizational skills

•           Good organizational skills and an understanding of how recording sessions run.

•           Good communication and active listening skills. 

•           Adaptable and willing to learn.

Typical tasks will include:

• To rationalize and tidy up logic session, possibly including creating  pro tools sessions for recording.

• To do rough transcriptions of mock-up/ demos and help tidy up any midis to send to copyist. 

• Help to organize running times/running order of three recording days. 

• To check nothing is missed

• To have a good time

Additional notes:

This is an opportunity to be part of a score recording which will be almost entirely created by real acoustic instruments. There will be a large element of creation and some improvisation in the recordings, so I hope it will an interesting and useful experience.

Nearly all the preparation will be remote and will require a fairly active amount of communication between the composer, the copyist and the (score recording) engineer.
